Homeowners

When you make the choice to put your home on the market, one of the hardest things to do is begin the process of turning it from a home to a house. In order to make the best impression, you must step away from your emotions and look at your property through the eyes of a buyer. Consider your house a product to be sold. With the market conditions the way they are today, most likely there are several other “products” being sold on your street. How does your house compare?
As an
Accredited Home Staging Professional (ASP), I can give you specific suggestions for your individual property. Each house and situation is different. For this reason it is very difficult to suggest a general To Do list, although, there are a few things that every homeowner should consider before listing their home.
1. Maintenance
Are there any major issues? That leaking faucet or water damage in the basement will only get worse. If you don’t want to deal with these things, you can bet a buyer won’t either.
2. Decor
Yes you had a professional decorator choose the perfect paint color and window treatments for the living room in 1988. That does not mean they still work today. Consider at least updating the accessories of a room to give the impression the home has kept up with the times.
3. Curb appeal

If you can’t get them in the house you can’t sell it. Make the outside of your home look immaculate and well cared for at all times. This may mean mowing the lawn every few days or shoveling the walk everyday. Just keep in mind it is only temporary. The more attention you pay to details, the better overall impression the house will make.
